Creating pantomime costumes has always been a significant part of James Maciver costumes. Providing these outlandish costumes for these lavish productions is always a privilege. Collaborating with the UK’s leading pantomime producer QDOS entertainment in delivering the highest quality of costumes for their productions all over the UK. Working with Olivier Award nominee designer Hugh Durrant to create these bespoke costumes for the London Palladium Pantomime.
Pantomime returned to the London Palladium after a 30 years with the spectacular pantomime Cinderella in 2016. James designed and built costumes for Cinderella. Working closely with Hugh Durrant we realised his designs for Paul O’Grady that lead to Hugh being nominated for an Olivier award for best costumes in 2017. For the 2017 Palladium pantomime Dick Whittington we realised Hugh’s designs for Elaine Paige and Julian Clairy as well as creating costumes for Ashley Banjo and the Diversity team. In 2018 for Snow White we worked closely with Hugh, Teresa & Maxine’s Feathers to create a wardrobe for Dawn French as well as Julian Clairy.
The 2019 production of Goldilocks and the three Bears James designed for Paul O’Grady who played the evil Barron Von Savage. This production was warded the Great British Pantomimes award for best costume. James worked closely with Teresa Nalton & Maxines Feathers to deliver these award winning costumes.
